DOWNM IX
You can select the downmix mode from
"Surround" or "Normal". The downmix
function is used to create stereo (2-channel)
signals from more than 5 separated digital
signals of a source. This setting affects the
outputs of OPTICAL OUTPUT.
SURROUND Normally, select this position.
Multi-channel audio signals are
output to 2 channels for enjoying
surround sounds.
NORMAL Multi-channel audio signals are
downmixed to 2 channels for use
with your stereo.
DIGITAL OUTPUT
You can set the mode of the audio signals
output from the OPTICAL OUTPUT
connector.
RAW
Select this when you connect an
audio component with a built in
Dolby Digital decoder or DTS
decoder.
PCM
Select this when you connect an
audio component without a
built-in Dolby Digital decoder or
DTS decoder. The downmix signal
is output.
OFF
No signal is output from OPTICAL
OUTPUT connector.

• When " OFF" is select ed, no signal is out put f rom
t he OPTICAL OUTPUT connect or.
• When you connect t he player and a digit al
recording device such as an M D player t hrough
an opt ical cable t o record t he CD cont ent s w it h
t hat device, t he cont ent s w ill be recorded as one
cont inuous t rack.
• If noise occurs in peripheral equipment w hen
using DIGITAL OUTPUT, select " OFF" t o t urn of f
DIGITAL OUTPUT.
• Sampling sound of 96kHz is changed t o 48kHz.
• If t he sound set t ing is changed t o DTS by t he
AUDIO but t on or Disc menu, no sound is emit t ed
f rom t he speaker.
• When you connect t o anot her unit w hich does
not support t he DTS f unct ion and change t he
sound set t ing t o DTS, noise may occur. In t his
case, change t he audio set t ing t o ot her t han DTS.
• While t he playing back a CD, w het her t he
DIGITAL OUTPUT is set t o RAW or PCM , t here is
no dif f erence in t he audio ef f ect .
DRC (Dynam ic Range Cont rol)
Makes the sound clear when the volume is
turned down when playing a DVD that
conforms to "Audio DRC". You can set the
DRC level from 9 steps (including "OFF"). This
setting affects the outputs of OPTICAL
OUTPUT.
MAX: Makes the low sounds clear even if you turn
the volume down.
OFF: Set to enjoy the dynamic sound.
