Chapter 7: Glossary
— This refers to removable data storage disks, sometimes
also called floppies or floppy disks. Diskettes generally
come in two sizes: 5.25" and 3.5".
— The information/graphics visible on the monitor screen.
— Disk Operating System. This is a set of commands is
used to control the operations of a computer and its
peripheral components.
— Dynamic Random Access Memory. This type of RAM
chip differs from Static Random Access Memory (SRAM).

ges between a hard disk and a computer.

software malfunction or an illegal data-entry attempt.

memory is necessary when the maximum 640KB of con-
ventional memory is not sufficient for a large program.
— This is a slots in which adapters and for cards can be
housed.
— A file is a collection of related information/data you store
on a diskette or a hard disk drive.
