9. THE MODULATION MODULES

This chapter covers the various modulation capabilities. The main part of the modulation section is
located in the center of the front panel.

9.1 The dynamic-function

The dynamic-function covers the control elements [slow/fast] (4) and [dynamic] (20) on the front
panel and the sockets "DYN OUT" (7) and "INPUT" (24) on the rearpanel. The function called "dyna-
mic", is basically a voltage follower. This function is directly derived from the detector of the compres-
sor, described in chapter 8.2. It recognises (detects) the current signal level at the compressor input,
resp. behind the gain amp and generates a voltage, proportinal to the input level. This voltage can
have linear or logarithmic scaling (db-linear / level-linear) and can be used for modulations.
front: (4) [slow/fast]
This switch selects the attack- and release-time of the detector.
Position "fast":
Position „slow":
This means a certain delay of the Voltssage follower.
front: (20) [dynamic]
The [dynamic]-switch (20) selects linear or logarithmic scaling of the dynamic-voltage.
Fig. 9.1.1 shows the approximate ratio between the linear and logarithmic scaling.
