Safety Notes
• This Lantern is not a toy; it does not belong into the hands of children!
Keep children and persons in need of supervision away!
• Do not leave the lantern unattended while it is lid!
• Make sure the burning lantern can not fall over or down!
• Do not operate the lantern in rain and avoid exposing it to rain.
• Never attempt to refill a lantern while it is lid!
Filling the Lantern
Before the first use, remove the cardboard ring under the glass tube. Screw off
the filling cap and fill the tank to two thirds (150 ml) with a suitable fuel. After
that, screw down the cap hand tight. Do not overfill the tank.
Suitable Fuels
The lantern should only be operated with fuels which are intended by the
manufacturer to be burned in Paraffin lanterns. Avoid oils with fragrances
which are intended to be burned oil lamps, these oils will produce high
amounts of soot and smoke, and the wick will may be clogged.
Regulating the Flame and extinguishing the Lantern
The size of the flame is adjusted with the long regulating screw on the burner.
The flame should not be too high. If a yellow column of soot appears over the
flame, the flame is too high. To extinguish the lantern, turn the wick down into
the burner until the flame is extinguished.
Replacing the Wick
Take the reflector screen off the lantern and loosen the knurled screws, which
hold the handle in place. Remove screws and handle and lift the upper hood
off the lantern. The glass tube and its retaining spring can now be lifted out of
the lantern. Use the regulating screw to push the remaining wick all the way up
and out of the burner and remove it from the lamp. Place the fresh wick in the
burner from above and use the regulating screw to push it down into the tank
until only as much wick as needed protrudes from the burner. Reassemble the
lantern and wait, until the fresh wick is sufficiently soaked with fuel. The
lantern can now be lighted again.
