The home screen displays when you turn on the phone. To
dial a number from the home screen, press number keys and
then U.
Note: Your home screen may look different from the one
below, depending on your service provider.

Menu Indicator
The Menu Indicator å shows that you can press M to open
the menu. Soft Key Labels show the current soft key
functions. For soft key locations, see page 1.

3 Data Indicator – Indicators can include:
4 = secure packet data
transfer
3 = secure application
connection
2 = secure Circuit Switch
Data (CSD) call
4 Roam Indicator – Shows W when your phone is
seeking or using a network outside your home
network.
5 PTT/Active Line Indicator – Shows ? to indicate
an active call or > to indicate when call forwarding
is on. Indicators for dual-line-enabled SIM cards can
include:
@ = line 1 active
A = line 1 active, call forward on
B = line 2 active
C = line 2 active, call forward on
Shows U when you can make and receive PTT calls or
Ux for both PTT calls and Instant Messages.
Note: When PTT is enabled, the Active Line icon will not
be shown.
6 Message Indicator – Shows when you receive a
new message. Indicators can include:

Your home screen might display news from your
service provider at the bottom. To change this news
display, press M > w Settings > Personalise > Home screen
> Headlines.
Status indicators can display at the top of the home screen:

Settings
1 Signal Strength Indicator – Vertical bars show the
strength of the network connection. You cannot make or
receive calls when ! or ) displays.
2 EDGE/GPRS Indicator – Shows when your phone
is using a high-speed Enhanced Data for GSM
Evolution (EDGE) or General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)
network connection. Indicators can include:
* = GPRS PDP context active
+ = GPRS packet data available
7 Ring Style Indicator – Shows the ring style setting.
Y = loud ring
X = soft ring
| = vibrate
8 Battery Level Indicator – Vertical bars show the battery
charge level. Recharge the battery when your phone
shows Low Battery.
