EC Declaration of Conformity TUME-AGRI OY P.O. Box 77 14201 TURENKI, Finland hereby declares, that the Nova Combi seeder fertilizer that has been placed on the market complies with the European machinery directive 89/392/EEC, and the relating amendments 93/44/EEC and 93/68/EEC.
Thank you for purchasing TUME Seeder Fertilizer. This manual contains instructions for correct use, adjustment, service and storage of Tume Nova Combi. Please follow the instructions in this manual to ensure correct operation and long-time reliability of your machine. It is highly recommendable to read the instructions carefully well in time before using the machine.
Regulations may often be amended. 3. USE OF THE MACHINE General The Tume Nova Combi –seeder fertilizer is designed for simultaneous seeding and fertilizing particularly in direct seeding conditions. Nova Combi is, however, also perfectly suitable for seeding minimally or normally tilled soil.
Page 5
Using the machine for fertilizing only Tume Nova Combi can also be used only for spreading fertilizer. The fertilizer is then loaded into either the fertilizer hopper or the seed hopper, or both. Most of the instructions given in the previous chapter apply also for spreading fertilizer only.
Page 6
It is of utmost importance to make sure that the seeds will not remain visible on top of the soil! Tume Nova Combi can be equipped with an covering disc in order to ensure that the seeds are properly covered.
Page 7
Correspondingly, in order to seed near the surface, fasten the latch in the upper grooves. A special hoisting device should be used to hoist the Tume Nova on a truck (for instance to load it in the factory). The machine is hoisted by the central wall located inside the hoppers towards the driving direction. It has two oblong holes where you pass the hoisting devices (you will need two) and where the hoisting chains are attached.

Adjusting the working depth Assembling the drawbar The drawbar is assembled according to the figure 3 below, which also shows how the drawbar is attached to the machine. Note that the drawbar is always attached on the upper slots on the lower lugs. Attach the hydraulic push bar also to its upper slot.

connected to the tractor's double function hydraulic output. Please note that in many tractors you should use special hydraulic couplings recommended by the tractor manufacturer. If necessary change these parts to those suitable to your tractor in order to ensure proper operation or the hydraulic system. The hydraulic cylinder on the drawbar also requires an additional double function output.
FIGURE 4: Adjusting the coulter pressure FIGURE 5: Lift and lowering valves Driving instructions When lowering the machine, it must always be simultaneously moved forward. Otherwise the coulters can get clogged. Avoid unnecessary driving on seeded areas. Select a suitable driving technique so as to leave as few tire marks on the seeded area as possible.
Page 11
push bar of the drawbar should be extended. If the machine tilts backwards, the push bar of the drawbar should be reduced. Check the seeding depths after driving a while, and adjust if necessary. Check the marker adjustment also by evaluating the seams. NOTE! Lift and lower the machine only when it is moving forward.
8. FILLING THE HOPPERS Filling the hoppers When the seeding starts, it is recommended to drive the machine on the field with hoppers empty. The fertilizers and seeds are brought to the field e.g. with a trailer, and the hoppers are filled at the field parcel. If it is necessary to fill the seeder fertilizer far away from the parcel, extreme care must be taken when driving with full hoppers.
9. EMPTYING THE HOPPERS EMTYING THE HOPPERS Emptying the fertilizer hopper The fertilizer hopper is usually emptied through the coulters. Adjust the feeder to maximum feed, spread e.g. a tarpaulin under the machine and turn the bottom valve lever of the fertilizer feeder to its lowest position. The hopper is almost completely emptied.
Page 14
transmission (cassette position II) 100 feed adjustment positions are available in a smaller range. NOTE! To adjust the feed, push the plastic locking lever towards the rear end of the machine (arrow direction) and turn it simultaneously 90 degrees. This will unlock the hand wheel. To increase the dosage, turn the hand wheel counterclockwise.
FIGURE 11. Power transmission cassette II = Grain, II = Fine seed When the bigger sprocket of the cassette is upwards, you have a grain adjustment. When the smaller sprocket of the cassette is upwards, you have a fine seed adjustment. The adjustment is marked on the cassette casing to its visible side.
Page 16
11. USING AND ADJUSTING THE FERTILIZER FEEDING DEVICE Overview There is an equal number of fertilizer and seed feeding chambers on the machine. Correct dosage is regulated by adjusting the feeding rollers sideways in relation to the feeding chamber with the hand wheel located on the right.
Page 17
12. EXAMPLES OF USING THE SOWING CHART General The seeding table below features three different usage examples. Note, that the dosages shown on the table are only advisory. The actual dosage depends on the seeds in question; seed properties vary considerably between different species and years.
Adjustment example for fine seeds Case 2. You want to seed 8 kg/ha of turnip rape. • Check the correct bottom valve position, "1", in the upper right corner of the seeding table • Look at the small seeding table •...

makes it easy to perform the calibration test.. You can keep the trays in place also during seeding. Always remember, however, to empty the trays from dust, etc, before performing the calibration test. When you have completed the calibration test, pull the calibration test trays out and weigh the seeds and fertilizer in them.
15. WORKING DEPTH ADJUSTMENT/COULTER PRESSURE Overview Tume Nova Combi seeds the seed and fertilizer through the same coulters. The fertilizer is directed to the deeper furrow made by the greater wheel, while the seed is seeded to the “side furrow” made by the smaller wheel.
To attain the desired coulter pressure, change the machine height: If the machine is close to its lowest position, the extension springs that affect the coulter pressure start to tighten. The lower you adjust the machine, the bigger the pressure achieved by the pair of draw-springs grows. The lowest position is adjusted with the lower adjustment knob in the adjustment indicator element (Figure 4).
In demanding repairs, contact the dealer for assistance. This section describes measures that can usually be carried out at the farm. Read the maintenance instructions carefully. If you work according to the instructions, the TUME seeder fertilizer will provide reliable service year after year. Failure to perform the described maintenance will void the warranty.

made twice every 25 operating hours, after which you can resume the normal interval of 100 hours. Both ends of the machine have two M24 screws (screwdriver 36), which, together with the braces at the ends, are used to tighten the axial end float of the coulter carriages. These screws are equipped with anti-rolling parts, which need to be removed during the tightening.
COULTER PRESSURE INCREASES THE RISK OF BLOCKING AND PUTS UNNECESSARY STRAIN ON THE BODY STRUCTURE OF THE MACHINE. Storage When the machine is not used, it must be stored cleaned and serviced in a covered shelter. Lower down the machine. Do not leave the machine supported by the tractor’s hydraulics. Empty the hoppers of fertilizer and seed.
Erroneous installation or the use of other than TUME accessories may be hazardous to the operator or damage the machine. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by modifications in violation of the factory instructions.

The markers’ electrical connections are discussed in Section 6. DEPLOYMENT, Attaching the machine to a tractor. The chart also shows the marker controller, which is connected to the tractor. The controller has five switches equipped with indicator lights. The first from the left controls the left marker beam, the second one controls the right one.

GRASS-SEED UNIT CHAIN GRASS-SEED UNIT CHAIN Calibration test The calibration test for the HS grass-seed box’ is performed with the four calibration test bags supplied with the device. Carefully disconnect the seed tubes of the four feeding chambers and close the bottom plate doors of the other seeding chambers.
Very small-size grains of the seed may bit between in the adjustment bush ring between the feeder chamber and the feeder drum. This may cause tightness when adjusting the seeding amount with the hand wheel. If this occurs, you must operate the machine for a couple of turns whenever the adjustment starts to feel heavy.
