Note that depending on how the system is configured, not all connections are required. The LEDs on the motherboard are also described here. A motherboard layout indicating component locations may be found in Chapter 1.

    SuperServer SYS-E300-12D-4/8/10CN6P User's Manual 4-Pin HDD Power Connector JPH1 is a 4-pin HDD power connector that provides power to onboard HDD devices. 4-pin HDD Power Pin Definitions Pin# Definition Ground 3.2 Headers and Connectors Chassis Intrusion A Chassis Intrusion header is located at JL1 on the motherboard. Attach the appropriate cable from the chassis to inform you of a chassis intrusion when the chassis is opened.
  • Page 27 Chapter 3 Motherboard Connections General Purpose I/O Header The General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) header at JPG1 is a general purpose I/O expander on a pin header via the SMBus. Each pin can be configured to be an input pin or output pin in 2.54mm pitch.
  • Page 28 I-SATA 3.0 Ports This motherboard has two I-SATA 3.0 ports (I-SATA1, I-SATA3). I-SATA1 can be used with Supermicro SuperDOMs that are yellow SATA DOM connectors with power pins built in, and do not require external power cables. Supermicro SuperDOMs are backwards compatible with regular SATA HDDs or SATA DOMs that need external power cables.
  • Page 29 Power Fail Ground NVMe I C Header The connector at JNVI2C1 is a management header for the Supermicro AOC NVMe PCIe peripheral cards. Connect the I C cable to these connectors. SGPIO Header There is one Serial Link General Purpose Input/Output (I-SGPIO1) header located on the motherboard.

    Chapter 3 Motherboard Connections Control Panel JF1 contains header pins for various control panel connections. Refer to the figure below for their pin locations and definitions. All JF1 wires have been bundled into a single cable to simplify this connection. Verify that the red wire plugs into pin 1 as marked on the motherboard. The other end connects to the control panel PCB board.

The LED on pin 8 provides warnings of overheat, fan failure, or power failure. Refer to the tables below for pin definitions.

    Chapter 3 Motherboard Connections 3.4 Jumpers Explanation of Jumpers To modify the operation of the motherboard, jumpers are used to choose between optional settings. Jumpers create shorts between two pins to change the function associated with it. Pin 1 is identified with a square solder pad on the printed circuit board. Refer to the motherboard layout diagram in Section 1.5 for jumper locations.

Close pins 1-2 to reset the system if an application hangs. Close pins 2-3 to generate a non-maskable interrupt (NMI) signal for the application that hangs. Refer to the table below for jumper settings.
