2 Safety requirements

2.1 General requirements
2.1.1 Workplace of service personnel must comply with the fire safety
requirements.
2.1.2 The insulation resistance of power circuits, with respect to the case of
the Oil tester must not be less than 2 MOhm.
2.2 Safety precautions during preparation and operation of the Oil tester
2.2.1 The Oil tester is to be operated by electrotechnical staff of at least
two persons over 18 years old, who are allowed to operate devices with voltage
over 1000 V, who have undergone a medical check-up as well as briefing on la-
bour and health protection.
2.2.2 When operating Oil tester the case must be grounded with grounding wire.

3 Preparation of the Oil tester for first use

3.1 Preparation of the Oil tester
When preparing the Oil tester for the first use it is necessary to:
а) take the Oil tester out of the transportation crate;
b) wipe the cover generator unit, the high-voltage terminals, the cell, the
electrodes and the reference caliber with similar liquid and then again with clean
dry serviette. Operating surfaces of reference caliber must be clean and smooth
without nicks and dents;
c) check the transformer oil level in generator unit. Its level must be 4-8 mm
lower the cover of generator unit.
If you need to refilling the transformer oil, proceed as follows:
– unscrew the decorative cap and plug on the cover of the generator unit;
– fill up in transformer oil with breakdown voltage more than 45 kV;
– screw in the plug and decorative cap;
