    Getting Started The A2-400 appliance is operated with specialized software designed to help you create and analyze realistic traffic for determining the operating characteristics of a device, system, or network under test. Due to the powerful traffic generating capabilities of the A2-400 appliance, precautions should be taken when connecting the test ports to an operational network.

Certifications and Standards Spirent A2-400 appliance complies with the limits for a Class A digital device in accordance with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when this equipment is operated in a commercial environment.

    Note: The terms management port and administrative port are used interchangeably. 10/100/1000 Base-T Administrative Port The administrative port must connect to a 10/100/1000 Base-T network. Spirent recommends the appliance be connected through a switch and isolated from your test environment.

    The appliance hardware is maintenance-free and should not be disassembled. Servicing the units yourself jeopardizes your warranty. Connector Panel Figure 2 shows the connector panels for the A2-400-QD-8-T1S and A2-400-QD-16-T1S appliance models. Table 1 on page 11 describes the appliance connectors.
