Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage disk drives, add-in
cards, and other components. Do the procedures described in the
"Upgrading and Maintaining Your Sony PC" section only at an ESD
workstation. If such a station is not available, do not work in a
carpeted area, and do not handle materials that produce or hold static
electricity (cellophane wrappers, for example). Ground yourself by
maintaining contact with an unpainted metal portion of the chassis
while performing the procedure.
When removing a slot cover, be careful not to damage components
on the system board or add-in cards. You may need to temporarily
remove add-in cards that are next to the slot cover you want to
remove.
On Usin§4he Hard Disk Drive
Do not place the PC in a location that is subject to vibration
or shock.
Do not move the PC during operation.
Do not subject the PC to sudden changes in temperature.
Do not turn off the power while the PC is accessing the hard
disk drive.

On Handling Diskettes

Do not open the shutter manually and touch the surface
of the diskette.
Keep diskettes away from magnets.
Keep diskettes away from direct surilight and other heat sources.
On Handling CD-ROM Discs •
Do not touch the surface of the disc.
Do not drop or bend the disc.
