INSTALLING AND TESTING A 1 LB. PROPANE
CYLINDER
See Figures 3 - 4.
A 1 lb. propane cylinder (not included) must be connected
to the generator before it can be leak tested. The cylinder
installs in only one position to help prevent it from cross-
threading into the regulator.
To connect:
 Remove the cylinder cap.
 Place a propane cylinder into the opening as shown,
making sure the cylinder is lying flat in the cradle and the
threaded outlet is seated in the regulator.
 Turn the cylinder clockwise to secure. Hand tighten only.
 Using a clean spray bottle and a 50/50 mixture of mild
soap and water, spray soapy solution over the area indi-
cated by the arrow in figure 4.
 "Growing" bubbles indicate a leak. Check that the connec-
tion is not cross-threaded and that it is securely tightened,
then repeat the leak test. If a leak is still present, remove
the cylinder and try with a different cylinder. If the leak is
still present using a different cylinder, contact customer
service for repairs to the generator coupling.
 If no leaks are present, you may proceed to start the
generator.
To disconnect:
 Hold propane cylinder firmly and turn counter clockwise
to remove.
 Place cap on cylinder valve outlet whenever the cylinder
is not in use.
NOTE: Only use the type of cap provided with the cylinder
valve. Other types of caps or plugs may result in leakage
of propane.

Always test a 20 lb. propane cylinder (not included) for leaks
before installing to the generator.
 Make sure the propane cylinder is disconnected from the
propane hose adaptor.
 Using a clean paint brush and a 50/50 mixture of mild
soap and water, brush soapy solution over areas indicated
by arrows in figure 5.
 "Growing" bubbles indicate a leak. Do not use or move
the propane cylinder. Contact a gas supplier or the fire
department!
 If you see, smell, or hear the hiss of escaping gas from
the propane cylinder:
• Move away from propane cylinder
• Do not attempt to correct the problem yourself
• Call your local fire department
 If no leaks are present, you may proceed to connect the
20 lb. cylinder to the generator.
OPERATION
CONNECTING A 20 LB. PROPANE CYLINDER
See Figures 6 - 8.
When using the included hose adaptor, the generator can
be connected to a 20 lb. propane cylinder (not included) for
increased run time.
NOTE: Always keep propane cylinder in upright position
during use, transport, and storage.
To connect:
 Thread the hose adaptor into the generator's regulator,
turning clockwise to secure. Tighten firmly by hand. Do
not use tools.
 Make sure the handwheel on the propane cylinder is
turned clockwise to its full off position, then remove the
cap from the cylinder.
 Hold the hose adaptor firmly and insert the nipple of the
coupling nut into the cylinder valve.
NOTE: Nipple must be centered in the cylinder valve.
 Holding coupling nut and hose as shown, turn coupling
nut clockwise and tighten by hand, taking care not to
cross-thread the connection. Do not use tools.
NOTE: The hose will seal in the cylinder valve resulting
in some resistance. An additional one-half to three-
quarters turn is required to complete the connection.
If you cannot complete the connection, disconnect and
repeat the above two steps. If you still cannot complete
the connection, DO NOT use this hose adaptor!
 Inspect valve connections port and hose adaptor. Look
for any damage or debris. Remove any debris. Inspect
hose adaptor for damage. Never attempt to use dam-
aged or plugged equipment. See your local propane
dealer for repairs.
To disconnect:
 Hold propane hose adaptor firmly and turn coupling nut
counter clockwise.
 Place cap on cylinder valve outlet whenever the cylinder
is not in use.
NOTE: Only use the type of cap provided with the cylinder
valve. Other types of caps or plugs may result in leakage
of propane.
 Remove the hose adaptor from the generator's regulator
by turning it counterclockwise.

FOR LEAKS
See Figure 9.
DANGER:
DO NOT smoke or use an open flame during leak test. If
a leak is present, the gas could ignite and result in seri-
ous personal injury.
