Description
Siemens Vacuum
Recloser
3AD
The operating
m~chanism
for
the
vacuum
interrupters
is located in a metallic
housing. To meet the requirements for fast
reclosing
cycles a magnetic actuator
with capacitors as energy storage drives
the
switch
unit.
A special linkage connects
the
magnetic actuator with the
vacuum interrupters.
For
the
3-phase system
this is
a gang-operated
mechanism.
The operating mechanism
is
equipped with anti-condensation
heating: It is
operated
together
with the
heating in the
control cubicle and controlled by
a
thermostat,
also located
in the
control
cubicle.
A mechanical position
indicator is
easily visible
from the
ground and shows
the
switch position of
the recloser. The
colored display
is
reflective in
the
dark when
using a flashlight.

Lock-out
handle or
manual trip
A handle is provided for manual tripping
of
the recloser and protrudes from the
operating mechanism housing.
The
lock-out
handle has
at
its
end
a ring for
an
easy
relea
se
of
the
handle,
also
if the
switch
unit is installed
on
a
pole.
The ring is
colored bright yellow and is
therefore
easily seen.
By
pulling
the lock-out handle, the recloser
opens and
remains locked in this
position.
The
locking
has a dual
interlocking
effect
but the measuring functions
stay:
It
locks
the
controller and electronics
processing
a close signal and
blocks the
switch
mechanically from closing.
As long
as the lock-out
handle
is
pulled
out, it
is not possible
to
close
the
switch
.
unit neither locally nor from the
control
room.
The
interlocking is removed when
the
l ock~out
handle has been
completely pushed
in. Then the
switch unit can
be
closed
electrically, either
locally
or
from
the
control
room
.
The recloser
cannot be manually
closed with the handle.
The
switching
is described in Chapter (see chapter
"5
Operation").
Operations
counter
A mechanical operations
counter is installed
at the bottom of the switch unit.
It
records
the
total number
of switching operations,
independently from the counters
in the
controller.
The
operations
counter
is
used to save and
indicate the
total
number
of
operations
of
the
switch unit.
