11� SAFETY NOTES FOR APPLICATIONS IN POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE
The HWF and HMF (see Note for available versions) are designed and manufactured according to NEC500 for
explosive gas and dust atmospheres, with the following type of protection:
_XP Class I, Div.1, Groups A, B, C, D
_DIP Class II, III, Div.1, Groups E, F, G
_NEMA 4 X, IP67
Ambient temperature:
- 20°C to +85°C (T5)
- 20°C to +60°C (T6)
According to FM3600, FM3615, FM3616, FM3810
NOTE:
Available Factory Mutual approved versions are: rigid rod (0), flexible sheating (1), exposed tip (3), flange
mount (4).
FM approved option 2 (flexible plus thermocouple) is not available. Please refer to datasheet for explanation of
configurations.
Take care that the instruments in the loop are connected in accordance with Explosion Proof installation
guidelines before inserting an HART communicator in the loop in an hazardous area.
The HMF and HWF series Melt pressure transmitter must be installed and serviced in conformity to plant engi-
neering and maintenance standards for environments classified at risk of explosion due to the presence of gas,
dust and fibers.
The HMF and HWF series Melt pressure transmitter must be powered through certified equipment within the
limits defined by this manual and grounded externally on the machine through the thread of process connection
or the indicated screw.
For the models with external Autozero/CAL, the function must be activated only by short circuit on the cable
conductors or on cable clamp. No other active electronics circuit is allowed.
Please avoid any dust accumulation on the transmitter.

The equipment includes flamepath joints, consult with the manufacturer if repair of the flamepath joints is
necessary.
