9 Taking a turbocharger out of operation / 9.3 Procedure with one in-
stalled turbocharger
The following work must be carried out after emergency operation with a locked rotor by an
ABB Turbocharging Service Station:

Remove rotor and check for imbalance

Install rotor

Fitting the spinner nose cone
Exception
The exception concerns customer requirements for test bed runs of new engines at a max-
imum engine load of up to 25 %. Because of the short locking time the rotor does not need
to be removed, nor does the rotor imbalance check have to be carried out.
In these test bed runs, it is not allowed to remove any set screws from the compressor wheel
when fitting the locking device (94003) (Fitting the locking device).

1. If present: Remove the spinner nose cone (25012) with the press-off screw (90024).
2. Loosen retaining nuts (N) and remove with screws (B
3. Turn back the screw (B
4. Position the slot of the locking device on a fin of the wall insert (77000).
5. Align the hole circle of the locking device with the drill holes in the compressor wheel
(25000).
6. Fit at least 9 screws (B
retaining nuts (N).
If more than 3 drill holes in the hub of the compressor wheel are occupied by set screws,
the corresponding number must be unscrewed.
7. Fit screw (B
