2. PROBLEM: INCONSISTENT IDLE
Likely cause
The starter motor is switched on.
Badly adjusted carburettor.
The inlet manifold is leaking air.
3. PROBLEM: THE ENGINE IS RUNNING IRREGULARLY
Likely cause:
Defective spark plug.
Defective or damp high tension lead.
Faulty spark coil.
Fuel or air filters are obstructed.

THE ENGINE HAS STOPPED

Likely cause:
The fuel tank is dry.
The fuel lines are blocked.
The ignition is cut off after contact has been
made.
The engine will not start up again.
Remedy:
Switch off the starter motor.
Adjust the carburettor.
Tighten the joints, replace any faulty parts.
Remedy:
Check the spark plug, clean it inside and out,
adjust the distance between the electrodes.
Replace if necessary.
Dry any damp cables or replace the damaged
cable if it cannot be repaired.
Replace with an identical coil; do not change
model.
Clean or replace the filters.
Remedy:
Re-fuel.
Clean the fuel filter.
Check the wiring system and the stop switch.
See point 1. Alternatively, the spark coil is
completely unusable. Replace.
