OWER
The COTS uses –48 V dc CO battery. This voltage must be fused on a fuse panel in the CO. The fuse rating depends
on the powering option used.

OUNTING
Attach the shelf to the selected position in the 19-inch or 23-inch equipment frames. For 23-inch frame installations,
reverse the mounting brackets on the shelf.

CCESS
All wiring to the COTS is done on the backplane. To access the backplane, remove the clear Plexiglas™ cover.

LARM
EADS
Audible and visual alarm leads from the CO alarm panel to the COTS must be provided. Run the Alarm leads down
the side of the COTS mounting frame.
HDSL L
INES
One pair of leads from the COTS to the HDSL Tip and Ring pair at the distribution frame must be provided for each
system in the COTS. These leads should be dressed along the side of the frame per local practices.

UBSCRIBER
INES
Most typical CO cables can be connected to the wire-wrap pins for connecting the COTS to the CO switch subscriber
line circuits at the distribution frame. Dress the cables along the sides of the frame per local practices.

ONNECTIONS

Ground Connections

Frame Ground must be connected to provide discharge path for outside plant protection circuits.
