FRONT FORK COMPRESSOR TOOL
Use this tool to compress the front springs in cartridge style shocks
when servicing or rebuilding. The compressor can be mounted in a vise

FL Adapter
for easy hands free servicing. Also included is an adapter for FL forks
to eliminate direct contact with spring coil. A special rod is also includ-
ed to pull up the fork damper rod.
Use on all models with cartridge style forks.

CAUTION: Do not damage any of the sealing surfaces of the fork tube
to help prevent leaking.

1. Clamp the Front Fork Compressor Tool (No.1776), securely

into a non marring vise with the top adjuster nut facing up.
2. Compress the fork assembly by holding the fork tube in one
hand and pulling the slider up the fork tube. This will expose
the lock nut holding the fork spring. (See Fig. 2)
3. FOR FLHT MODELS: Place fork compressor FL adapter tool
(No. 1176-3) over the top spring. (See Fig. 3) For all other
models skip step 3.
WARNING! Only tighten the 2 allen screws enough to hold the FL
adapter or damper assembly from turning as the fork compressor tool
is compressing the fork spring, or bodily injury may result. JIMS
responsible for damage, injury or your work. Please follow the instruc-
tions carefully as they are designed to aid you with your work and to
help you finish your work safely.
