Using the WCT3

1. Press and hold the "Press To Test" button on the WCT3. The "Test Ac-
tive" indicator will illuminate and any or all of the "315MHz", "125KHz",
20KIHz and "IR" indicators may flash momentarily.
2. With the WCT3 activated and in close proximity to the device being
tested, activate the device being tested. If an infrared signal is being
tested it is necessary to point the IR emitter of the device into the top end
of the WCT3 toward the "DET" labeling in the upper right corner of the
WCT3 where the IR detector is located.
3. If the signal(s) being tested are present the corresponding indicator(s) will
illuminate. Depending on the characteristics of the device the indicator(s)
may flash momentarily, constantly or remain solid on. If no indication is
initially obtained try repositioning the device in relation to the WCT3.
Once you become familiar with the various devices being tested you will
learn the characteristics of each and be able to obtain consistent indica-
tions.
Automotive 125KHz and 315MHz communications test.
While standing close to the vehicle, activate the WCT3 and observe if the
125KHz indicator illuminates. If the key fob generates a 315MHz signal upon
detection of 125KHz the fob should be held close to the WCT3 for this test.
Results:
 If the key fob generates a 315MHz return signal when the 125KHz
is present the WCT3 315MHz and 125KHz indicators will illumi-
nate if the fob is held near the WCT3. Otherwise there will only
be a 125KHz indication.
 Problem?
:

If only a 125KHz signal is indicated and 315MHz is also
expected the problem may be a dead battery or other
electronic problem with the fob.

If both the 125KHz and 315MHz indicators illuminate but
there is no resulting system activity it is possible the key
fob data is corrupt or there is a problem with the vehicle
315MHz receiver system.

If there is no 125KHz indication there is a problem with
the 125KHz transmitter system.
