7. DRIVING ESSENTIALS

Starting the Engine
Before starting the engine, ensure that the fuel switch
is in the open position and the engine shutdown switch
is in (insert symbol, page 19) position. Insert the
ignition key in the ignition switch and turn it to the ON
position. If the transmission is in neutral, the neutral
indicator light will appear on the control panel.
Warning (ST-250 Model only)
Always engage the gear in neutral and firmly press
the clutch grip before starting the engine. This will
ensure that the motorcycle does not suddenly jump
forward if you start it in gear.
Never rotate the accelerator grip when pressing the
start button.

Warning
If you have never driven this type of motorcycle
before, you are advised to practice riding it on a
quiet road away from traffic until you thoroughly
familiarize yourself with the control and operation of
this motorcycle.
Before driving, makes sure that the side stand is
returned to the upper position.
Do not change gears or decelerate while turning.
Always slow down to a safe speed first.
Firmly grasp the handlebar with both hands when
driving your motorcycle and keep your feet on the
foot-board.
Drive slowly on a wet road as your tyres will have less
traction and both the braking and turning capacity
will be lower than usual.
Always observe the road rules and speed limit.
