5. RUNNING IN A NEW MOTORCYCLE

Engine Speed
Do not drive at a constant engine speed for long
periods. The various parts in an engine wear and polish
themselves to the correct operating clearances during
running in stage. Prolonged full throttle operating,
placing an excessive load on the engine, or any
condition that might result in excessive heating of the
engine should be avoided.
Avoid Driving At A Low Speed
Maintaining a low engine speed (with a light load)
will assist in the wearing and polishing of engine
parts but will not ensure a proper running-in. As
long as the maximum limit of recommended throttle
opening is not exceeded, you should practice driving
the motorcycle in various gears and with proper
acceleration.
Never drive at the maximum acceleration during the
first 1600 km.
