2. Recommended settings for the microphone modes
To achieve high-quality audio recordings, use the microphone mode that suits the application.
Dictation is for recording dictation, whereas Conference uses stereo recordings with a sense of presence
appropriate for recording conferences.

The recorder can be held in any way but the distance
from the microphone to your mouth should stay
within the area shown in the diagram.
Laid down on the table
Place the recorder on the table for conference
recording. Point the microphone towards the speaker.
Note:
When the Mic mode is set to the Conference Mode,
Mic Sense will be fixed to the Intelligent Auto Mode.
In this mode, recording levels are automatically
adjusted to match the volume of the sound source.
When the input is loud, the recorder reduces the
input level, and vise versa for lower input level to
always provide an even level of volume.
