Know your winch: Before you begin, you should familiarize yourself with your winch and each of its components (models will vary in appearance): Control Box Remote Socket Clutch Lever Motor Winch Drum Winch Rope Motor: The winch motor is powered by the vehicle's battery. The motor provides power to the gear mechanism, which turns the winch drum and winds the winch rope. -

How to make your winching more efficient: Avoid angled pull. The winch line should not exceed a 15-degree angle up and down from horizontal, or a 45-degree angle left or right from straight ahead. Use pulley blocks. Pulley blocks allow you the advantage of using a small force to move a heavy resistance or object. -
