Measuring AC or DC Voltage

For voltage measurements, batteries are not needed. The maximum continuous voltage at the test
terminals is 600 V (AC or DC).
2.
Before connecting the unit to the test piece, make sure the unit is off.

Follow the steps under "General Operation." Do not press the START button to take voltage
measurements.
Using the Shield Terminal
Most insulation resistance measurements are performed without using the S (SHIELD) terminal.
However if measuring insulation of coaxial or similar cables, the test result can be a result of both
insulators' conductivity and of the insulators' surface conductivity (which appears either because of
humidity or dirt). To eliminate the influence of the surface conductivity, the S (SHIELD) terminal should
be used as shown in the illustration.
