3. Carefully check the four corners of the socket cover to ensure that the cover is seated securely.
4. Follow any additional instructions included with the replacement part you received.

Device in the 5.25-inch flex module

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
The following devices are supported in the 5.25-inch flex module.
• Slim optical drive (available on some models)
• eSATA connector or IEEE 1394 connector
• Front Thunderbolt adapter kit
Slim optical drive
To install or replace a slim optical drive in the flex module, do the following:
1. Prepare your computer. See "Preparing your computer" on page 98.
2. Remove the flex module out of the chassis. See "Device in the flex bay" on page 117.
3. Lift the clip on the rear of the flex module cover and slide the flex module cover to the rear to remove the
cover.
