Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series

Fixed-configuration switches offering multilayer switching and Cisco StackWise™
technology for enterprise branch offices and mid-market organizations.
The Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series is an innovative line of multilayer Fast Ethernet and
Gigabit Ethernet switches featuring Cisco StackWise technology, a 32 Gbps stack
interconnect that allows customers to build a unified, highly resilient switching
system—one switch at a time.
Up to nine Catalyst 3750 Series switches can be stacked in any combination,
enabling organizations to mix and match to meet specific requirements. Additional
10/100, 10/100/100, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE), and Power over Ethernet (PoE)
connectivity can be deployed as necessary, offering a simple and cost-effective
pay-as-you-go approach to network upgrades.
The Catalyst 3750 Series can be purchased with the IP Base (formerly called SMI)
or IP Services (formerly called EMI) licenses, and can be upgraded in the field to
Advanced IP Services licenses. The IP Base license offers advanced QoS,
rate-limiting, ACLs, and basic routing functionality. The IP Services license provides
a richer set of enterprise-class features, including advanced hardware-based IP
Unicast and IP Multicast routing as well as Policy-based Routing (PBR). The
Advanced IP Services license adds IPv6 routing and advanced IP services.

Cisco StackWise Technology
A unique stacking architecture optimized for Gigabit
Ethernet, this technology is designed to respond
to additions, deletions, and redeployment while
maintaining constant performance. It unites up to
nine individual Catalyst 3750 switches into a single
logical unit, using special interconnect cables
and stacking software. The stack is managed as a
single switching unit controlled by a master switch
elected from one of the member switches. The
master switch automatically creates and updates
all the switching and routing tables. A working stack
can accept new members or delete old members
without service interruption.
Addition of IP Communications
Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series PoE models support
Cisco IP phones and Cisco Aironet ® wireless
LAN (WLAN) access points, as well as any IEEE
802.3af–compliant end device. The Catalyst 3750
24-port models can support 24 simultaneous full-
powered PoE ports at 15.4W for maximum powered
device support. The 48-port versions can deliver
the necessary power to support 24 ports at 15.4W,
48 ports at 7.3W, or any combination in between.
