Chapter 1: Motherboard Overview Introduction This manual describes the Viglen Vig555M motherboard inside your computer. The motherboard is the most important part of your computer. It contains all of the CPU, memory and graphics circuitry that make the computer work.
Feature Summary The Vig555M motherboard supports Intel® Pentium® 4 processors LGA 775 pin with up to 1MB of second-level cache integrated in a LGA 775 Socket package operating at speeds up to 3.8GHz. The Celeron processor 775 pin with 128K second-cache with 400MHz system bus is also supported up to 3.2GHz.
Page 8
The Pentium 4 processor comes in a LGA package that connects to the motherboard through a socket 775 connector. The package consists of: • Processor card including the processor core and the second-level cache, burst pipelined synchronous static RAM (BSRAM) and tag RAM. • Thermal plate. • Back cover. Make sure you are earthed and free of static charge before you open the computer case. If you are unsure about upgrading your computer, return it to Viglen so a qualified engineer can perform the upgrade. STEPS TO TAKE TO PREVENT STATIC DISCHARGE: 1.
Overview of Jumper Settings The VIG555M motherboard contains the latest technology to offer an almost ® jumperless configuration. All Pentium 4 CPUs are automatically detected and the Speed is automatically set from the information provided by the CPU. The only jumpers present on the motherboard are for clearing all the CMOS settings.
(Default Clear Turn off the system and unplug the power cord. Move the jumper from pins 1-2 (default) to pins 2-3 for about 5~10 seconds. Then move the jumper back to pins 1-2. V1.0 VIG555M Motherboard Manual...
