This operation manual contains important information on how to operate the machine in a safe, appropriate and economic manner.

    1. DESCRIPTION OF PERFORMANCE With their compact, lightweight, ergonomic design, the CDM 18 T provide simple, user-friendly dry drilling every day on the construction site and in buildings. The clamping collar ensures convenient control of the core drill using a clamping handle for hand-guided drilling as well as easy mounting on core drilling stand for guided core drilling.
  • Page 8 You should particularly handle malfunctions which can compromise safety immediately, or have them addressed by experts. The CDM 18 T is a dry core drill machine and follows the machine classification of a core Appropriate usage drill machine.
  • Page 9 For safety-related changes to the machine or its running behaviour, stop the machine immediately and mark it accordingly. Report the problem to the responsible post/person! No changes, removal or addition of parts without the written approval of the manufacturer! The instructions of the tool maker must be followed. Only use tested original replacement parts from the manufacturer! Observe required or prescribed deadlines given in the operating manual for inspection.
  • Page 10 1.4. Safety instructions for operation phases 1.4.1. Transport, assembly and installation Transport, assembly and installation on/with the machine may only be carried out if the drive motor is turned off. Transport may only be done, as long as all machine parts are tightened on the machine and individual parts cannot fall.
  • Page 11 1.4.3. Operation Refrain from working in any manner that is questionable in regard to safety! Take measures to ensure that the machine is operated only in a safe, functional condition! The machine must be checked at least once per shift for externally identifiable defects or damages! Any changes which occur (including operating behaviour) must be reported immediately to the responsible post/person! If necessary, immediately stop the machine and secure it against restart! Immediately stop and secure the machine in case of malfunctions! Immediately correct malfunctions!

Special work while using the machine Follow all setup, maintenance, and inspection activities and schedules prescribed by the operating manual, including all information about the replacement of parts / assemblies! These activities may only be carried out by technical personnel. Inform operating personnel before beginning special and maintenance work! Name a supervisor! If the machine is turned off during maintenance and repair work, it must be secured against unexpected application of power.
  • Page 13 1.5.2. Electric power Use only original fuses with the specified current rating! In case of malfunctions, turn the machine off immediately! Electrical work may only be carried out by technical and qualified personnel. Carry out maintenance or repair work only when the drive motor of the machine is turned off and the tool is not running any more.
  • Page 14 1.6. Transport Even when moving only for a short distance, the drive motor of the machine must be turned off. The tool may not be rotating before a restart! When recommissioning, follow the operating manual! 1.7. Packaging and Storage To ensure sufficient protection during shipping and transport, the machine and its components are carefully packaged.

    COMMISSIONING 3.1. Connections and operating materials A reliable power source with an operating voltage and corresponding fuses as shown on the model plate Connection of electricity must be available. The automatic phase inverter automatically regulates the direction of rotation. Never operate the machine without the equipped portable residual current device (PRCD). Working with the core drilling machine is like a grinding process in which extremely fine dust is produced.

    3.5.2. Tool installation WARNING! Risk of injury due to hot tools. The tools can get hot if used for a lengthy time. Wear safety gloves when changing the hot tools or allow the tools to cool first.  If the core drilling machine is used on a drill stand, the machine must be fixed in the motor collar before the tool is fitted.

    5. OPERATION 5.1. Sicherheit DANGER! Falling drill cores can cause severe injuries! If drilling openings through objects, always check the rooms below or behind and block off the  danger zone. Use formwork to secure the drill core against falling. WARNING! Risk of injury due to hot tools.
