STEP 2 PREPARING THE EQUIPMENT This Quick Start Guide gives instructions on how to replace the battery in the 8300 series transponders. Before carrying out any activity on the equipment, make sure all Warnings and Caution labels on the equipment and within this Quick Start Guide are read and understood.

STEP 3 DISMANTLING THE EQUIPMENT Use the following procedure to dismantle the equipment and remove the battery. WARNINGS High pressure hazard risk when dismantling the sub-sea equipment, refer to the Safety Section. Must only be carried out by trained personnel. Electric shock hazard risk when dismantling the equipment, refer to the Safety Section.

STEP 4 DISMANTLING THE EQUIPMENT Screw an M4 screw ( not supplied) into the Pressure Relief Vent Valve plug. Slowly pull the out the Pressure Relief Vent Valve to release any internal pressure, and reveal the two ‘O’ rings. A pair of long nose pliers can be used to assist. Wait for any internal pressure to be fully vented from the housing.

STEP 5 DISMANTLING THE EQUIPMENT 11 Undo and remove the nuts, washers and bolts securing the clamp rings. 12 Push the rubber stop free of the clamp rings and housing.

STEP 6 DISMANTLING THE EQUIPMENT 13 Remove any dirt or water that may have accumulated between the rubber stop and the clamp rings 14 Use the opening tool to lever the end-cap from the housing until the ‘O’ ring seal are exposed.

STEP 7 DISMANTLING THE EQUIPMENT 15 Use a lint free cloth to clean around the ‘O’ ring seals CAUTION Remove the end-cap slowly to prevent the transducer cable becoming detached. 16 Remove the end-cap completely.

STEP 9 DISMANTLING THE EQUIPMENT 20 Rotate the transponder so the battery is upper most in the housing. WARNING Risk of burns. If the battery pack has been exposed to flooding, personal protective equipment, such as gloves, must be worn to handle the battery pack.
STEP 10 CONNECTING THE EQUIPMENT Before inserting a new battery pack into the transponder housing, inspect the housing for any signs of damage or corrosion. Refer to the manual for assistance if necessary. Make sure all Warnings and Cautions in the Safety section have been read and fully understood.

STEP 11 CONNECTING THE EQUIPMENT Push the battery connector through the top bulk head Position the top bulk head over the two locating pins and firmly push into position. Inspect the end-cap for any signs of damage or corrosion, pay particular attention to the ‘O’...

STEP 12 CONNECTING THE EQUIPMENT 11 Position the end-cap next to the transponder housing. 12 Connect the transducer cable 13 Connect the battery pack CAUTION Observe the position of the transducer cable, be careful not to trap the cable when inserting the transducer. 14 Coil the cable inside the bulk head and push the transducer into the housing.

STEP 13 CONNECTING THE EQUIPMENT 15 Position the clamp rings in the grooves on the end cap. 16 Slide the rubber bumper stop over the end cap and align with the holes in the clamp rings 17 Secure the clamp rings to the bumper stop using the bolts, washers and nuts. 18 Tighten the nuts and bolts.
