The EDI data stream must be

delivered with a multicast address.
 The output of the BACKUP device is
switched off.
The BACKUP device monitors the

data stream of the MAIN device.
 For uninterrupted protection, the
BACKUP device only sends IP
packets itself in the event of
missing IP packets from the MAIN
device.
 E1/ETI (E1 Module Upgrade)
The output of the BACKUP device is

connected to the input of the MAIN
device.
 The MAIN device switches to the
ensemble of the BACKUP device
without interruption in the event of
non-critical local alarms.
 The MAIN device switches to the
ensemble of the BACKUP device
with a short interruption (E1 bypass
relay) in the event of critical local
alarms or power failure.
