SENSITIVITY
The sensitivity setting of the arc detection system can be adjusted to
accommodate a variety of welding methods and workplace conditions. To
see the current sensitivity setting, momentarily press the SENS button. To
change setting, press the SENS button repeatedly until the indicator shows
the desired setting.
6 HIGH Most sensitive setting. Used for TIG welding where part of the arc is
obscured from view.
5 Suitable for very low current welding, use of TIG welding machines.
4 Suitable for low current welding, use of TIG welding machines.
3 Position for welding with low current, with stable welding arcs or much
ambient light.
2 Normal position. Used for most types of welding.
1 LOW Least sensitive setting. Used if there is interference from other
welders' arcs in the vicinity.
If the welding filter does not switch to the dark state during welding as
desired, increase the sensitivity until the welding filter switches reliably.
Should the sensitivity be set too high, the welding filter may remain in the
dark state after welding is stopped due to ambient light. In this case,
decrease the sensitivity to a setting where the welding filter switches
reliably. The sensitivity setting cannot be adjusted when SHADE LOCK
mode is used.
DELAY
The delay setting is used to set the recovery delay of the welding filter from
the dark state to the light state according to welding method and current to
reduce eye fatigue. The recovery delay means the adjustable time for the
welding filter to switch to the light state, to protect the eyes from bright light
from the weld puddle. To see the current delay setting, momentarily press
the DELAY button. To change the setting, press the DELAY button
repeatedly until the indicator shows the desired setting.
Welding filter G5-02: six different steps are available, table fig. 7.
The delay setting cannot be adjusted when SHADE LOCK mode is used
BLUETOOTH
The welding filter can be paired with and connected to iOS and Android
devices via the 3M™ Connected Equipment App. The app can be
downloaded on iOS App Store or Google Play. For information on how to
connect the app with the welding filter, follow the instructions in the app.
When connected to the iOS or Android device you will have access to
welding filter settings, work statistics, user instructions etc.
IN USE
To check function: press any of the buttons and the indicators will flash.
The welding filter is equipped with four optical sensors, fig. 8. They react
independently of each other, prompting the welding filter to darken when a
welding arc is struck. The sensors on the welding filter must be kept clean
and uncovered at all times for optimal function.
Flashing light sources (e.g. safety strobe lights) can trigger the welding filter
to start blinking even though no welding is occurring. The blinking will occur
whilst in light state, the dark state will remain unaffected. This interference
can occur from long distances and/or from reflected light. Welding areas
should be shielded from such interference.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Clean the welding helmet with a mild detergent and water
Clean the welding filter and protection/cover plates with a lint-free tissue or
cloth
^ To avoid damage to the product do not use solvents or alcohol for
cleaning or disinfection. Do not immerse in water or spray directly with
liquids.

MAINTENANCE

Replacement of outer protection plate.
Remove front frame and replace the outer protection plate, fig. 9.
Replacement of inner cover plate
The used inner cover plate is removed as illustrated in fig. 10. The new
inner cover plate should be inserted as illustrated in fig. 10.
Magnifying lens (accessory) mounting, fig. 11.
Replacement of headband, fig. 4a-4c.
Replacement of welding filter, fig. 12.
Replacement of battery
The battery should be replaced when the low battery indicator flashes or if
indicators do not flash when the buttons are pressed.
Remove the welding filter, take out the battery holder (use a small
screwdriver if necessary) and replace the battery in the battery holder, fig.
13. Slide the battery holder into the welding filter until it snaps into position.
Note that all settings will be reset to the original manufacturing setting.
^ The used battery/worn out product parts should be disposed of
according to local regulations. The welding filter should be disposed of as
electronic waste.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION

When stored as stated in technical specification, the expected shelf life of
the product is five years. The original packaging is suitable for transporting
and storage.
