DANGER
FAILURE OF INDICATORS OR CONTROLS DURING THE
STARTUP PROCEDURE MAY INDICATE THE NEED FOR
INSTRUMENT SERVICE. THE INSTRUMENT SHOULD
NOT BE RETURNED TO SERVICE UNTIL PROPERLY
OPERATIONAL.
DANGER
DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR FOR BREATHING
UNLESS THE MONITOR IS DISPLAYING GREEN LIGHTS
FOR AIR QUALITY INDICATOR AND ALARM STATUS
INDICATOR.

6.2
The following items are required for response
check of the PanBlast
Monitor:
10 ppm carbon monoxide test gas
Part No# BAC-AF-0270-00
Calibration valve assembly
Part No# BAC-AF-0269-00 (See Figure 4)
DO NOT CHECK THE PANBLAST

6.3
The following instructions cover the steps to
check the PanBlast
1)
On the calibration valve assembly, turn the
needle valve clockwise to the closed
position.
2)
Attach the calibration valve assembly to
the 10 ppm carbon monoxide test gas
bottle.
3)
Move the instrument RUN/CAL switch to
the CAL position.
4)
Attach the calibration connector on the
calibration
instrument test gas connector. Initiate gas
flow into the instrument by gently turning
the needle valve of calibration valve
assembly to the open position. Monitor
the flow rate to confirm GREEN LED
illumination
indicator.
Allow the test gas to flow for 30 seconds, and
then confirm the internal air quality indicator
#3, Figure 3 is RED. If the indicator is GREEN
the instrument should be taken out of service
and calibrated.
5)
Turn off the feed valve of the calibration
valve assembly to the closed position and

OPERATING MODE

7.1
Operation that is not continuous will require
full start-up each time the instrument is used.
Response tests should be made subsequent to
the initial startup requirements, page 5 of this
manual.
7.2
After an initial startup of a PERMANENT
installation,
instrument be TESTED the next day and then
weekly for the first month. A minimum of
monthly
checks
thereafter.
7.3
Sensor life will vary. In almost all cases the
sensor will remain effective for one or more
years.
Instruments
calibration
schedule a sensor replacement.
7.4
In normal operation the lid of the instrument
should be closed except during the calibration
activity. Care should be exercised during
calibration to avoid contaminants entering the
instrument.
7.5
The exterior of the instrument may be cleaned
with a mild soap and water solution.
7.6
Temperature excesses should be avoided to
prolong the life of the sensor. Temperature of
the sensor cell must be maintained between 4°C
(40˚F) and 48°C (120˚F).
7.7
The sensor function and overall life will be
impacted if sample air is extremely dry and
operations are continuous.
7.8
The PanBlast
initiate
a
compressor is turned off with the instrument
still powered. This is typical of operations with
idle shifts. The low-pressure alarm can be
silenced with the mode selector switch outlined
on page 8 of this manual.
