Stacking Two CO28IR incubators may be stacked using the optional NBS stacking kit (PN M1271-9990). See the procedure outlined in Figure 1. These units are heavy, so care should be taken to use appropriate lifting devices that are sufficiently rated for these loads.
Always disconnect the unit from the electrical service when cleaning and assure all volatile or flammable cleaners are evaporated and dry before reattaching the unit to the power supply. New Brunswick Scientific User’s Manual...
Place the humidity pan inside the incubator, in the center of the floor. See Figure 2a on the following page for a photograph of the shelves, fan cover, HEPA filter and humidity pan in place. CO28IR CO Incubators with HEPA M1271-0051...

The HIGH and LOW alarm indicators (red bars) will light whenever there is an alarm condition associated with the temperature within the chamber. The MUTE indicator (yellow bar) will light whenever the audible alarm has been deactivated..continued... New Brunswick Scientific User’s Manual...
The Door Temperature controller (see Figure 4) is located on the outer door liner in the upper left corner. This control will maintain door temperature between 1º and 1.5ºC above the incubator chamber temperature to prevent condensation from forming on the glass door. HEPA CO Filter The CO28IR CO incubator design featurs a HEPA filtration system with a patented copper housing. As the chamber air is drawn through the filter system (see Figure 5), airborne microbes and isolated particulates are not only removed from the air, these contaminants are also destroyed through copper oxidation.
Page 26
The HEPA filter has an efficiency rating of 99.97% at 0.3 micrometer. The filter is easy to replace, requiring no tools (see Section 7.4 for replacement instructions). CO28IR CO Incubators with HEPA M1271-0051 User’s Manual...
To adjust the setpoint on any of the controls: 1. Push and release either the UP or DOWN arrow key for the control you wish to set, and the digital display will start to blink from bright to dim. New Brunswick Scientific User’s Manual...
At least once a week, the water should be changed in the pan and the pan should be cleaned to help control contamination and to maintain proper surface tension. CO28IR CO Incubators with HEPA M1271-0051 User’s Manual...
1. After the incubator has been running for 24 hours and the temperature display is stable at the setpoint, read the temperature in the chamber from the reference thermometer and, if necessary, recalibrate the display using the instructions in Section 5.4. New Brunswick Scientific User’s Manual...
Prior to any attempt to hook up or run the CO control system, the water jacket must be filled (see Section 5.2) and the temperature must be adjusted. Figure 6: Fittings, Ports & Valves (schematic, top view) REAR PANEL FRONT PANEL CO28IR CO Incubators with HEPA M1271-0051 User’s Manual...
