Replacing the Hydrostat
During the procedure of replacing the hydrostat, install the
check valve; refer to
Installing the Check Valve (page
Refer to the service manual for instructions on replacing the
hydrostat.
Installing the Check Valve
These instructions apply to machines that have already had
the hydrostat installed.
1. Park the machine on a level surface, shut off the engine,
set the parking brake, and remove the key from the
ignition switch.
WARNING
Parts of the machine and the fluids inside may
be hot and can burn you.
Allow the machine and the fluids to cool.
2. Place an oil-absorbent pad between the charge-filter
assembly and the machine frame.
3. Place another oil-absorbent pad below the first one
in the machine frame channel to contain the draining
hydraulic fluid.
4. Loosen and remove the top hard line between the
fitting on the filter head and the fitting on the hydraulic
manifold

5. Loosen, but do not remove, the lower hard line at the
filter head fitting

6. Remove the 2 hex-head screws to disassemble the filter
head from the frame bracket on the machine

7. Unscrew the lower hard line from the fitting.
8. Remove the filter head from the frame bracket.
Note: Leave the charge oil filter attached to the filter
head.
9. Remove and discard the middle fitting that was installed
in the middle port of the filter head, marked "OUT"
