CONNECTING TWO CONTROL MODULES This must only be performed by the dis- tributor. It is possible to connect two joystick mod- ules to the R-Net LCD system. This option may be helpful if an attendant will be operating the electric wheelchair and the joystick module does not need to be moved to the back of the wheelchair.

BUTTONS AND SYMBOLS ON/OFF Turns the joystick module on and off, respectively. ☞ On start-up, the electronics perform a system test. ☞ The button automatically returns to a neutral position. Profile/Mode Cycles through available driving profiles and config- urable functions each time the lever is moved back- wards.
BUTTONS AND SYMBOLS Max. speed Pushing the knob backwards reduces the max. speed setting, Minus setting one level (20%) at a time. ☞ For safety reasons, we recommend only using the Minus knob when the wheelchair is in a sta- tionary position.

BEFORE USE Charging the batteries Do not insert objects aside from the safe- ty plug and battery charger plug into the charging socket. – Risk of a short circuit! To charge the batteries, first turn off the joy- stick module, then insert the battery charg- er plug into the joystick module socket (2).
Lock The joystick module is locked if a padlock symbol appears on the LCD screen [1]. The joystick module can be locked to pro- tect the electric wheelchair against unau- thorised use. While this is not configured by default, your distributor can add this feature on request.
The lock key feature After you turn on the joystick module, plug the lock key [1] into the charging socket (2). Auto-shutdown To conserve battery power, your electric wheelchair is equipped with an auto-shut- down feature. Unless you move the joystick or press a but- ton on the control module, the wheelchair shuts down automatically after the pre-set timeout period. ☞ While this feature is not standard, your service representative can configure it and set a timeout period ranging from 1 to 30 minutes.
PRE-DRIVE INSPECTION Battery indicator After you turn on the joystick module, after a short system test, the battery indicator (21) displays the battery charge level. As the batteries drain, the battery indicator will show an increasingly smaller number of illuminated segments (21). ☞...
Pre-set maximum speed Risk of an accident due to: – Inappropriately set maximum speed level. – Select a lower maximum speed level while driving! The max. speed level must be selected according to your personal circumstances and particular driving situation! When driving downhill adjust the max.
Attendant control Before or while driving, each time you press the button (3), the maximum speed setting increases one level, up to a maximum level of 5. If you press the button again on level 5, the maximum speed will return to level 1, the lowest setting.
Speed levels The max. speed level must be selected according to your personal circumstances and particular driving situation! Select a low speed level in hazard situa- tions where you feel insecure (e.g. driving in confined spaces, downhill, on ramps, in pedestrian zones or similar).
MODE MENU Only press the Mode button when the electric wheelchair is in a stationary po- Drive mode sition. By pushing the MODE button, you can tog- gle between Drive mode, Settings mode and other active modes such as Bluetooth or IR [1].

ATTENDANT CONTROL Attendant control is only available with modules JSM, CJSM and CJSM2. JSM is not a stand-alone feature. ☞ Follow the instructions in the chapter Overview on page 8. INDIVIDUAL FEATURES/ SETTINGS ☞ Not all features described here may be available for your particular wheelchair. Odometer (total kilometres) The LCD display shows the total number of kilometres (29), up to a maximum of 99,999. ☞ Only the kilometres travelled in a for- ward direction are shown.
Driving program Up to eight driving profiles can be selected by pressing the Profiles button (12). The different properties of the driving pro- grams allow you to set the electric wheel- chair’s drive characteristics to suit particular driving conditions. For example, separate programs can be downloaded to enable the use of special controllers.

GYRO Gyro must be deactivated prior to/during any transport in a moving vehicle. This can be done by selecting a special driving program suited to these condi- tions. The Gyro, which is standard in FWD and FWDS, helps to right the wheelchair when it would otherwise tilt or topple over, such as on uneven terrain.
EXTERNAL CONNECTIVITY OPTIONS The joystick module allows additional con- nectivity options for external connections such as e.g.: – A Mode selector (1) – An ON/OFF button (2) Connecting external button controllers To connect external control buttons, re- move the plug cover and insert the plug in question all the way into the appropriate jack (3)+(4) / [6].
IR INTERFACE Follow the instructions in the external de- vice’s operating manual. External devices with IR remote control, e.g. a television, can be controlled via the joy- stick module. Entering IR remote control codes 1. Press and hold the hazard light for 3 seconds.
BLUETOOTH Follow the instructions in the devices’ op- erating manual. The Bluetooth menu shows all devices that are connected via Bluetooth. External devices with a Bluetooth interface, e.g. a smartphone, can be controlled via the joystick module. ☞ Set-up requires the assistance of your service representative.
