  • Page 4 1. WORK AREA SAFETY a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

    OPERATION PREPARE TO OPERATE Warning! Before switching 'ON', make sure that all personnel, particularly children and domestic animals, are at a safe distance. Inspect the hedge to be trimmed, and make sure there are no obstacles or foreign objects in the work area. If any parts are missing, damaged or broken, do not operate your hedge trimmer until all damaged parts have been replaced or repaired.
  • Page 15 SWITCH OFF To switch the hedge trimmer 'OFF', release either the safety switch or the ON/OFF switch. TRIMMING HEDGE Warning! Before using this hedge trimmer, make sure that you have read all of the safety instructions. Be aware of the position of the cable at all times. Keep it away from the blade.

    Note: Evergreen hedges and shrubs that retain their leaves in the winter, should be trimmed in April and August. Conifers and other fast-growing shrubs can be trimmed every six weeks from May onwards, throughout the growing season. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE WARNING! Before cleaning, inspecting or repairing your power tool, make sure the switch is 'OFF'.

  • Page 18 Note: If a moulded plug is fitted and has to be removed, take great care in disposing of the plug and severed cable; it must be destroyed to prevent engaging into a socket. MAINTENANCE For easier operation and longer life, lubricate the cutting blades before and after each use.
