■ Why only 1.8TB is showed after connecting with a HDD
marked 2TB??
Please check if the calculate method is correct
Most HDD manufacturers calculate the capacity as below;
・1MB = 1,000,000 Byte
Usually we consider it should be;
・1KB = 1024 Byte
・1MB = 1024 × 1024 = 1,048,576 Byte
・1GB = 1024 × 1024 × 1024 = 1,073,741,824 Byte
・1TB = 1024 × 1024 × 1024 × 1024 = 1,099,511,627,776 Byte
ie If the capacity of the HDD is marked as 2TB then after
conversion;
・2,000,000,000,000 ÷ 1,099,511,627,776 = about 1.8 TB
200 GB difference might be caused due to different calculating
formula.
Such calculation method is used generally by the manufacturer of
hard disks, thank you for your understanding.
