Before use
Please read the user instructions carefully
and completely before using the applian-
ce and retain for future reference. Remo-
ve all packaging and labels and dispose
them appropriately.
Caution
• This appliance can be used by
children aged from 8 years and
above and persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental ca-
pabilities or lack of experience
and knowledge if they have been
given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance
in a safe way and understand the
hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with the
appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance
shall not be made by children un-
less they are older than 8 years
and supervised.
• Children younger than 8 years
shall be kept away from the ap-
pliance and its mains cord.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it
must be replaced by the manu-
facturer, its service agent or si-
milarly qualified persons in order
to avoid a hazard.
• Never immerse the unit in water
or other liquids.
• This is an household appliance
only. It is not intended to be used
in: staff kitchen areas in shops,
offices and other working envi-
ronments; farm houses; by cli-
ents in hotels, motels and other
residential type environments;
bed and breakfast type environ-
ments.
• Please clean all parts before
first use or as required, following
the instructions in the Care and
Cleaning section.
• Before plugging into a socket,
check whether your voltage cor-
responds with the voltage printed
on the bottom of the appliance.
• Only use the appliance with wa-
ter and for preparing coffee to
avoid any damage to the appli-
ance.
• Do not put the carafe on other
heated surfaces (such as stove
plates, hot trays, etc.).
• Always use cold water to make
coffee.
• Before you start preparing a new

pot of coffee, always allow the
coffee maker to cool down for
approx. 5 minutes (switch off the
appliance), otherwise steam can
develop when filling the water
tank with cold water.
• The coffee maker shall not be
placed in a cabinet when in use.
• Do not use the appliance for any
purpose other than the intended
use described in the user manu-
al. Any misuse may cause poten-
tial injury.
• The keep warm plate is subject
to residual heat after the appli-
ance is switched off.
• Do not use the glass carafe in the
microwave.
• Avoid touching hot surfaces,
especially the keep warm plate.
Never let the cord come in con-
tact with the keep warm plate.
• Caution: Due to the high power
of this appliance please make
sure that your mains supply is
sufficient. Please contact your
local electric power company
to make sure that the so called
mains impedance is not higher
than 0.247 Ohm.

Before first use

Run the coffee maker through a complete
brew cycle without ground coffee. Use a
full carafe (10 cups) of fresh cold water.

Intended Use

The appliance must only be used for pre-
paring coffee using water and ground
coffee.
(A) Clock
When the coffee maker is first plugged
in or when power is restored after an in-
terruption, the display (5) starts flashing
2:00 and you hear an acoustic signal.
To set the clock follow the steps shown in
fig.

(B) Timer
The TIMER can be set for any time, day
or night.
To set the timer follow the steps shown in
fig.
.

(B.1) Activate the Timer
1. Place the lever (3) in position "Coffee"
and select the beverage size (4) .
2. Place the carafe or your empty cup
underneath the filter basket outlet. For
smaller cups use the cup holder (7).
3. Press TIMER (6A) and select brew
mode (6D). TIMER turns permanently
on.
4. The preset TIMER time and the selec-
ted brew mode disappear.
5. To switch off the function, press TIMER
again: TIMER will disappear.
(C) Water hardness level
Set the water hardness level on the coffee
maker to the water hardness level for your
local area.
To set the water hardness level follow the
steps shown in fig.
.

(D) Altitude setting
To ensure your coffee maker works prop-
erly at higher altitudes, enable the alti-
tude setting. This setting avoids that the
coffee maker develops steam rather than
boiling at the standard boiling tempera-
ture (100°C).

in fig.
