  • Page 7: Oil Pressure Switch Replacement

    1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector, then remove the oil pressure switch. Fig. 6: Removing Oil Pressure Switch Courtesy of AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC. 2. Remove any old liquid gasket from the switch and switch mounting hole. 3. Apply liquid gasket to the new oil pressure switch threads, then install the oil pressure switch.

    1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch, then install an oil pressure gauge (A). Fig. 7: Installing Oil Pressure Gauge Courtesy of AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC. 2. Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing.

Using the oil filter wrench, remove the oil filter. 2. Inspect the engine block seating surface to be sure all of the old filter gasket has been removed.

Check the housing-to-rotor axial clearance between the rotors (A) and pump housing (B). If the housing-to-rotor axial clearance exceeds the service limit, replace the oil pump assembly.

Inspect both rotors and pump housing for scoring or other damage. Replace the parts, if necessary. 6. Apply liquid thread lock to the pump housing screws, then install the oil pump cover.

Install the dowel pins (B), then align the inner rotor with the crankshaft, and install the oil pump (C). 8. Clean the excess grease off the crankshaft, and check the seal for distortion.

Remove the engine hanger. 16. After assembly, wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
