Care and Cleaning

Air Directional Louvers
Air directional louvers control air flow direction. Your air conditioner has one of the
louver types described below.
4-Way Louvers
The 4-Way air directional louvers allow you to direct air flow up or dow n, left or
right throughout the room as needed. To adjust the air directional louvers side-to-
side, use the center handle as you move it side-to-side.

Air Filter Cleaning
The air filter should be checked at least once a month to see if cleaning is necessary.
Trapped particles in the filter can build up and cause an accumulation of frost on
the cooling coils.
• To remove filter, first tilt the panel out by grasping the panel from both sides just
below the air directional louvers and gently pull to release. Gently pivot the panel
on its hinge, and remove the filter.
• Wash the filter using liquid dishw ashing detergent and w arm w ater. Rinse filter
thoroughly. Gently shake excess w ater from the filter. Be sure filter is thoroughly
dry before replacing.
• Or, instead of w ashing you may vacuum the filter clean.
Cabinet Cleaning
• Be sure to unplug the air conditioner to prevent shock or fire hazard. The cabinet and
front may be dusted w ith an oil-free cloth or w ashed w ith a cloth dampened in a
solution of w arm w ater and mild liquid dishw ashing detergent. Rinse thoroughly and
w ipe dry.
• Never use harsh cleaners, w ax or polish on the cabinet front.
• Be sure to w ring excess w ater from the cloth before w iping around the controls.
Excess w ater in or around the controls may cause damage to the air conditioner.
• The cabinet front can be removed for more thorough cleaning. Refer to " Front
Installation" in this manual.
• Clean the front in a sink using liquid dishw ashing detergent and w arm w ater. Rinse
thoroughly and dry.
• Replace cabinet front. Replace the screw s.
• Replace front panel (if applicable) and filter. Plug in air conditioner.
Winter Storage
If you plan to store the air conditioner during the w inter, remove it carefully from the
w indow according to the installation instructions. Cover it w ith plastic or return it to the
original carton.

purchased from your dealer. The cover w ill protect the air conditioner w hen it is left in
place through the w inter.
