Table 1. The attachment is intended to be used by one person at a time for splitting firewood. The diameter of the log can be up to 300 mm, and the maximum log length is 550 mm. The log splitter must be coupled to the boom of a loader during use.
7 (28) 3. Safety instructions for using the attachment Please bear in mind that safety is the result of several factors. The loader-attachment combination is highly powerful and improper or careless use or maintenance may cause serious personal injury or property damage.

Do not stay in the area between the attachment and the loader. Mount the attachment only on level surface. WARNING Never move or lift an attachment that has not been locked. Avant quick coupling system: Step 1: Lift the locking pins of the quick coupling plate of the loader up, and turn them backwards into the slot, so that they are locked in the upper position.
5.1 Connecting and disconnecting hydraulic hoses On Avant loaders the hydraulic hoses are connected using the multi connector system. If you have an older model Avant 300-700 series loader with the conventional quick couplers, and you want to change to the multi connector system, contact your Avant dealer or service point for instructions or installation services.

14 (28) Keep all fittings as clean as possible; use the protective caps on both the attachment and the loader. Dirt, ice, etc. may make using the fittings significantly more difficult. Never leave the hoses hanging on the ground; place the couplings onto the holder on the attachment.
15 (28) 6. Instructions for use Practise the use of the attachment and the controls of the loader in a safe area. If you are unfamiliar with the particular loader model, it is recommended to practice its use without any attachments. Risk of crushing of hands - Keep hands away from splitting area.
16 (28) 6.1 Checks before use Check the splitter tool and the operating area once more before starting to work. Quick inspection of the equipment and the operating area before use are parts of ensuring safety and the best performance of the equipment.
17 (28) 6.2 Operation 6.2.1 Using the log splitter Setting up the log splitter 1. Choose a level working site, which can carry the load of the equipment and the logs. Clear the area from any obstacles that could cause a tripping hazard. The working area must not be slippery.

18 (28) Risk of serious personal injuries - Prevent unexpected starting. To make sure that the attachment will not start by accident, shut down the loader engine according to safe shutdown procedure. 19 (28) Pinch point hazard - Keep hands clear. Always keep your fingers away from any cracks that open in the log during splitting. They can quickly close and pinch your fingers. WARNING Risk of burns - Keep clear of hot surfaces. The unit parts and hydraulic oil can be hotter than 80 °C.
20 (28) 6.2.3 Adjusting the blade height The height of the splitting wedge (1) can be adjusted to match the log diameter. It can also be set to split the log in two pieces. It may be easier to split tough wood or wood with many branches by splitting it only into two halves, so that the wood will not stick on the blade.
21 (28) 6.3 Transport position When driving with the loader, keep the log splitter lifted off the ground, as shown in the adjacent figure. Transport the log splitter carefully and note the effect of weight on the front to the stability of the loader. The unloading chute of the log splitter must be removed or folded during transportation, as shown in the adjacent figure.
22 (28) 6.4 Storing the attachment Uncouple and store the attachment on level ground. The best way to store the attachment is a place where it is protected from direct sunlight, rain, and extreme temperatures. Avoid leaving the attachment laying directly on the ground. Place it on blocks of wood or on a pallet, for example.
Finding any fault means that the hydraulic hose or component must be replaced and the equipment must not be used until it is repaired. 24 (28) 7.2 Inspection of metal structures Also the metal structures of the attachment must be inspected regularly. Check visually for damages and inspect the quick attach brackets and their surrounding area carefully. The attachment must not be used if it is deformed, cracked, or torn.
25 (28) 8. Warranty terms Avant Tecno Oy grants a warranty of one year (12 months) from the date of purchase for the attachment it manufactures. The warranty covers repair costs as follows: Work costs are covered, if the repair is not performed at the factory.
