contact to select them and pick the video option. Once connected
you can then control your audio, switch between your front and
back cameras, and enjoy a video chat with up to ten of your friends.
Use in-chat options
Hangouts includes a few in-chat options,
located in the top and bottom bars, that you
can use to improve the quality of your chat.
The main in-chat options deal with the audio,
allowing you to choose between speakers and
headphones or Bluetooth devices, and you can
also disable the video link and return to a text
chat if your connection is a little poor. If you
decide to pop over to your desktop computer and sign in to the
web service then you can even add fun effects to your videos.
Change the settings
As with any app of this type, you'll want to have a range of settings
that you can tinker with to perfect how the app functions, and
while the Hangouts app isn't yet as fully featured as its predecessor,
Talk, you can still access the main settings.
You'll find options enabling you to control the notifications that
you receive from the app, how people can make contact with you
and also the blocking of people you don't want to hear from. If
you want to change any of the settings related to your Google+
account, or quickly nip across to set up a new circle, then tap the
Google+ profile heading under Account and navigate from there.
Hangouts works from inside of Gmail as well so take a break from
writing an email and make a video call with a friend.
Hangouts is a versatile and incredibly useful app that will allow
you to communicate quickly and easily with your loved ones. Long
face-to-face video calls or quick text chats – the choice is yours.
