Figure 1.8 – Typical Engine Coolant Heaters

ENGINE OIL HEATER

The engine oil heater is designed for installations where the engine
oil must be kept near operating temperature at all times. If included
with this unit, a low-watt density heater and thermostat are perma-
nently mounted in the engine's oil sump or on the sump pan. The
heater and thermostat do not require maintenance.

BATTERY WARMERS

When used in conjunction with a coolant (block) heater, battery
warmers aid in ensuring that the engine will reach maximum
cranking speed.

BATTERY CHARGERS

The generator is equipped with an AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat)
battery. The battery charger is preset for the AGM battery. DO NOT
CHANGE THE BATTERY CHARGER SETTINGS. The charger is 12
VDC with maximum output of 10 amps. The charger is UL listed.
The charger is fully automatic with sequential multistage charging
to ensure the battery is not over charged. The charger also has
automatic maintenance or float charge voltage. Therefore, it can
be connected to the battery continuously.

STANDBY GENERATOR
INSTALLATION
+
Connecting this generator to an electrical
system normally supplied by an electric util-
ity shall be by means of a transfer switch
(such as the "GTS" type transfer switch),
so as to isolate the electric system from the
utility distribution system when the genera-
tor is operating. Failure to isolate the electric
system by these means will result in damage
to the generator and may also result in injury
or death to utility workers due to backfeed of
electrical energy.
!
If an open bottom is used, the engine-gener-
ator is to be installed over non-combustible
materials and should be located such that
combustible materials are not capable of
accumulating under the generator set.
Only qualified, competent installation contractors or electricians
thoroughly familiar with applicable codes, standards and regula-
tions should install this standby electric power system. The instal-
lation must comply strictly with all codes, standards and regula-
tions pertaining to the installation.
This genset must be insalled on a level surface. The base frame
must be level within two (2) inches all around.
After the system has been installed, do noth-
ing that might render the installation in non-
compliance with such codes, standards and
regulations.
For more information about the installation of a standby sys-
tem, order Engine-Generator Standby Electric Power Systems
Installer's Guide and Reference Manual (part #046622) from
