We have to make ice cubes separate of the ice maker since the maker part keeps freezing over. Is there an option to stop the ice maker from making ice but still make it usable to dispense ice we add to it without turning off the water?

Yes, the ice maker in a Samsung RF28R Series refrigerator can be turned off while still allowing the dispenser to use manually added ice. If the ice maker is off, you can still add ice to the ice bucket and dispense it as long as the dispenser panel is not locked and the bucket is properly inserted.
