Mechanical Problems
Mechanical problems can often be identified by listening to the sound of the machine when it
is operating and observing whether the paper cutting capacity drops.
If a strip-cut shredder is making excessive noise:
•
The cutting cylinders may need a small amount of oil applied to them.
o
This only applies if the shredder is squeaking.
•
Gears may need to be replaced
If a cross-cut shredder is making excessive noise:
•
The cutting cylinders may need to be oiled.
•
Gears may need to be replaced.
•
The cutting system may have broken paper strippers
o
This will require the whole cutting block to be replaced.
