VSWR
The radio frequency assigned to each channel. You cannot change this
value.
The operating mode for each each channel. You cannot change this
value.
The background noise level for each channel. This is for informational
purposes.
The number of AIS messages that have been successfully received on
each channel.
The number of AIS messages that have been successfully transmitted
on each channel.
A relative measure of the efficiency of your antenna system. Lower
numbers indicate a better match. Values greater than 3:1 may cause
VSWR errors to be displayed.
If you have a high VSWR it indicates a poor antenna match or a
problem with a cable or connector. Check that your antenna is
designed for operation at 162 Mhz (the high end of the marine VHF
band). Check that all connections are properly made and tight and
check for an open or short circuit on all cables. Finally, the placement of
the antenna may have an effect. For example, do not mount the
antenna close to other antennas or metal structures, such as a mast.
The VSWR measurement is updated on every transmission. Prior to the
first transmission, the message "Waiting for TX..." will be displayed.
This warning symbol is displayed next to the VSWR scale when
the VSWR is too high and you must find the source of the
problem in the antenna system.
Note: Not all revisions of the
VSWR or the warning symbol.
