FR­3x / FR­3xb won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will
require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you
if this occurs.
● We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update
procedure using this system program. Please perform the update
responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
How to update
1. Open/extract the downloaded file "fr3x_sys_v105.zip" on your
computer to get the following content ( 1 folder and 4 files ).
­ DATAROM (folder)
­ a.rom
­ PROGRAM
­ startup
­ update
2. Connect the USB flash memory to your computer
3. First delete all existing files and folders from the USB memory and then
copy the above content (1 folder and 4 files) to the USB memory's root
folder.
4. Disconnect the USB memory from your computer as follows:
[ Windows ]
Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to
un­mount the USB memory and then disconnect the USB memory from
your computer.
[ Mac ]
Drag the Drive icon of the USB memory into the trash in the dock and then
remove the USB memory from your computer.
5. After verifying that the FR­3x / FR­3xb power is off, plug the USB
memory into the FR­3x USB MEMORY port.
6. Turn the power on while pressing and holding the Treble register [1]
and Treble register [2] until the message "Upd" appears on the display.
7. When update has successfully completed, an "End" message will
appear on the display. Turn the FR­3X power off and unplug the USB
memory.
