Using the Focus Lock

The following types of subject may not be suited
to autofocus photography. Use the focus lock in
these situations.
• Subjects with extremely low contrast to the
surroundings
• Subjects with extremely bright objects at the
center of the composition
• Subjects that are moving quickly
• Subjects through glass
Try to shoot as close to the glass as possible
to reduce the chances of light reflecting back
off the glass.

Aim the camera so that a subject at
the same focal distance as the main
subject is centered in the viewfinder
or in the AF frame displayed on the
LCD monitor.

Press and hold the shutter button
halfway, and wait until the camera
beeps twice.

Re-aim the camera direction to
compose the shot as desired and
press the shutter button all the way.

Switching Between Autofocus Modes

While the auto focus function is set to AiAF, you
can change to the auto focus center point.
The camera automatically selects the
AF frame to focus on according to the

shooting conditions.
Focus is selected for the center of the
AF frame. This helps you to make

sure that the focus is exactly where
you want it.

(AiAF).

Press the MENU button.
Press the shutter button instead of the MENU
button to shoot an image with the set auto fo-
