3. Mode key—The Mode key is used to toggle the BCS
7700 between the Operate and Program Modes, see Fig. 7.
a. Switching to Program Mode from Operate
Mode—If in the Operate mode, with the burner in
Standby or if the BCS 7700 is in safety shutdown,
the Mode key can be pressed to place the system
in the Program mode. The Program mode cannot
be entered when the burner sequence has begun.
Program mode can be entered ONLY in Standby
or if the BCS 7700 is locked out.
b. Switching to Operate Mode from Program
Mode—If in the Program mode, the Mode key
can be pressed to place the system in the Operate

mode. The ENTER key should be pressed prior to
switching to the Operate mode to assure the
displayed parameter value is stored in the BCS
7700 microcomputer memory.

4. AUTO/MANUAL key—The AUTO/MANUAL key
places the BCS 7700 in an automatic [AUTO] sequence
operation or a manual (MANUAL) sequence operation.
The AUTO/MANUAL key function has control of the
BCS 7700 only when in the Operate mode. When in the
Program mode, the AUTO/MANUAL key has no func-
tion.
• AUTO (automatic) control allows the BCS 7700 to
sequence the burner based on safety sequence logic
and rate control of the BCS 7700. The system starts
and stops the burner automatically, see Fig. 8.
• MANUAL (manual) control allows manual adjust-
ment of the firing rate motor position. The cursor
must be placed beneath % Rate to allow manual
adjustment of firing rate using the [+] or [-] keys.

The BCS 7700 assures system safety, but firing rate
control is removed from the BCS 7700 rate control
and manual firing rate takes control, see Fig. 8.
