Inserting the battery
1. The battery chamber is located on the side of the receiver.
Open the battery chamber.
2. Remove the battery chamber from the receiver.
3a. Insert the battery in the chamber with plus (+) side of battery facing plus (+) side of battery chamber.
3b. Another battery type can be used (type: 2032). To insert the battery type 2032 apply the battery adapter
enclosed.
4. Put the battery in the battery adapter and insert both parts in the battery chamber. Put battery chamber back
into the headset.
Note: When it is time to change the battery, a warning signal will sound in your headset every 10 seconds.
Connecting GN ACTIVA to your telephone
5. Connect the headset cord to the enclosed Quick Disconnect coiled cord.
6. Disconnect handset cord from telephone. Insert the modular plug at the end of the headset cord into the
telephone handset socket on telephone. Leave handset on the telephone.
Note: If you want the possibility of selecting between handset and headset, you will have to install the
headset/handset switch (optional). See ill. 19a-19d.
Setting up GN ACTIVA to your telephone
Step 1: Adjusting GN ACTIVA to your telephone
7. Adjusting the termination switch:
Remove the earplate from the receiver by turning the earplate 45
termination switch – marked A-G – is now visible.
8. Put on your headset. Lift the handset from the telephone and listen for a dial tone in your headset. When you
hear a dial tone, blow into the microphone. If you can hear the sound of your blowing, the setting is correct.
If you can not hear the sound of your blowing, move the termination switch from position A to G until you
can hear the sound of your blowing.
9. Put the earplate back in place by mounting it at a 45
turn it clockwise.
Step 2: Adjusting the microphone sound level
10. The microphone sound level must be permanently set according to your model of telephone so the party on
the other end hears you clearly. Put on your headset. Call someone and ask him/her to help you adjust the
sound level of your microphone.
11. Press and hold the mute button for 3 seconds to enter set-up mode. You will hear a signal when the headset
is in set-up mode.
12. Now increase and decrease microphone sound by pressing the upper (+) or lower (-) part of the oval volume
control button on the outside of the receiver until the other person hears you clearly.
Note: You will hear a signal each time you adjust the volume. When you reach the maximum and minimum
sound levels, you will also hear a signal.
13. Press the mute button on the outside of the receiver again to exit the headset set-up mode. If you forget to
press, the headset will automatically exit the set-up mode after 10 seconds.
