Since the sensor is very sensitive, a small shock (pencil falling from a height
of 10 cm or rupturing a piece of plastic in the earthquake scale model, for
example) is sufficient for correct display of the signal.
4.1.3 Parametering and recording
- Start up the seismic software, now incorporated in your VTT using the key
F1 application key of your VTT, select seismometer using the scrolling
menu (diagram 1) and validate by clicking the OK button on your VTT.
You will now enter the appropriate environment.

The key F2 allows parametering a single or multiple graph curve display.
When beginning in seismology, the single curve mode is recommended for
recording.
By pressing the Mem key, you will enter a menu for parametering the
recording (diagram 3).
Move around using the arrow keys to parameter:
- the recording time: in the knowledge that on concrete, the speed is
- synchronisation:
Either the external synchroniser (red and black socket on the
console),
Or synchronised on one of the sensors.
- the distance between the different sensors.
Do not use too short a distances between the 2 sensors, minimum 25 cm. If
one of the sensors is used as a synchroniser, this is the zero point of the
distance.
